Described as a “very expressive singer” with a voice of “marvelous clarity and bell-like quality” (Classical Singer Competition, 2022), Yunona Tabala is a soprano originally from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and currently based in Boston, MA. In May 2023, she completed her Master’s studies at Longy School of Music of Bard College as a Natasha Jakoff Scholar. A strong believer in healing through music and storytelling, Yunona is dedicated to sharing these gifts with audiences through opera and recital performances. She is excited to be joining West End Lyric Opera for its 2023-2024 inaugural season as a cover of Caterina in L’Amico Fritz. Previously, she has appeared with such organizations as MassOpera (Die Zauberflöte), Music On Site, Inc.(Amahl and the Night Visitors), Boston Opera and Zarzuela (featured artist recital), Utah Vocal Arts Academy (Suor Angelica), Shift Orchestra Project (Mass for the Endangered, Boston Premiere). In June 2023, she made her Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut as an Honorable Mention recipient of the 2022 American Virtuoso International Music Competition. In her free time, Yunona enjoys spending time with her husband, swimming at a local YMCA, reading classical literature, and taking long runs with her dog, a pomeranian-husky Willow.
